Formed in 2001 by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzo and philanthropist Lewis Katz, the GCP is the leading organization in the region bringing together leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors to promote the revitalization of Camden through joint public/private ventures.
The GCP has played a critical role in many of the most prominent economic development efforts in the city over the past seven years. It continues this work with a focus in three specific areas:
- Managing the "Camden Clean & Safe" program
- Promoting private-sector investment in Camden through creative planning, market research and reports
- Coordinating public and private sector resources in support of specific projects
The GCP is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of more than thirty community leaders, representing Camden's leading private, non-profit and public-sector institutions. The GCP is funded through a combination of grants, fee for service projects, and voluntary contributions from Camden's leading corporate and non-profit institutions. David Foster is the GCP's President and CEO. Stephen Dragos serves as the Senior Advisor for Development.
